Wills
What is a Will?
When a person passes without a Will, the property will be divided up by the State of Texas according to state laws. This can have very serious consequences. People that should receive assets such as children, family members, close friends, and favorite organizations may receive nothing. On the other hand, people that were not intended to receive anything may get large portions of assets and property. Also, if the deceased has small children, the state can decide who the children’s caregiver becomes.
When you pass, a Will legally allows you to specify who should receive your property. If your children are too young to do so themselves, a Will can be used to appoint people of your choosing to manage this property. Once written, a Will can be changed by adding an addendum to it. Also, a Will can be cancelled and replaced by a new one.
